October Hokkaido Surimi Production Jumps 4% to 2,700 Tons

The National Surimi Manufacturers Association announced that six onshore surimi plants in Hokkaido yielded 2,685 tons of frozen surimi in October, which includes surimi other than pollack, or up 4 percent in contrast with the same month a year ago. The aggregate amount from Jan through October came to 17,576 tons, down 11 percent.
In October as a single month, 2,438 tons of pollack surimi, or up 3 percent, was produced. Atka mackerel surimi was 240 tons, up 5 percentage points. Out of the total yield amount from Jan to October, pollack surimi numbered 16,075 tons, down 2 percent and Atka mackerel surimi was 1,429 tons, down 54 percent.
The surimi inventory as of late October in Hokkaido reported by the association members amounted to 3,105 tons, a decline of 13 percent. Of which, pollack surimi jumped 7 percent to 2,970 tons and Atka mackerel was 125 tons, down 84 percent.
